The Pastor Search Committee (which is also the Advisory Board) met on August 16 to discover the core values of Wilmington Apostolic Pentecostal Church.

If you google core values you will find something similar to the following:

Core values are fundamental beliefs that guide a person's or organization's behavior and decision-making. They are the principles that define what is most important and shape how individuals and groups interact with the world and each other. Essentially, they are the bedrock of personal or organizational identity, influencing actions, goals, and overall culture.

Essentially, core values define who we are and why we do what we do. This is the first step in developing a vision frame (see July 19, 2025 update).

The Committee engaged in various activities and exercise led by Steven Beardsley of Equipping Leaders. By end of day, they had drafted a set of core values. They are now thinking and praying about these core values. Their next meeting is Sunday, August 24 where they will test these core values against various scenarios to see if they ring true for WAPC. The Committee will then begin developing the descriptions for each core value.

While this work seems slow, it is essential to the process of properly presenting to prospective pastoral candidates who WAPC is and also to developing a pastoral profile of what WAPC is looking for in a pastor.
