The Pastor Search Committee (which is also the Advisory Board) met on August 24 to continue discovering the core values of Wilmington Apostolic Pentecostal Church.
They began with a discussion of the draft core values developed last meeting. They then broke into small groups and tested these core values against various scenarios to see if they rang true for WAPC. The testing involved answering five different scenarios that typically show up in the life of the church and then identifying what core values were utilized for the decision. This confirmed several of the core values but also led to refining and renaming several others.
The Committee then began developing in small groups the descriptions for each core value. They will meet again Saturday, September 6 where they will pick up with the work of writing the description of each core value and then discussing them together as a group. This work will take some time but will result in a set of core values defining who WAPC is and why it does what it does, along with detailed descriptions of each core value.
Again, while this work seems slow, it is essential to the process of properly presenting to prospective pastoral candidates who WAPC is and also to developing a pastoral profile of what WAPC is looking for in a pastor. It is also instrumental in defining who WAPC is in order to continue developing leaders and teams to do the work of the church. Stay tuned for more reports.
