The Pastor Search Committee (which is also the Advisory Board) met on September 6 to define what the core values mean specifically to Wilmington Apostolic Pentecostal Church.

They began with the already discovered core values and broke into small groups to participate in a Word Harvest exercise in which they identified the nouns (qualities, what) and verbs (actions) that define each core value in the specific context of WAPC.

They then engaged in an exercise in which they shared stories in their own lives in which one of the core values was present. The rest of the group then listened and identified the words from the Word Harvest that showed up in the story.

Finally, the group individually chose three nouns and three verbs for each core value that most captured the core value for them. This process led to a smaller list from which they will again choose three nouns and three verbs for each core value. They will share their lists with the group when we meet again on Sunday, September 14. By continuing to narrow the lists the group will arrive at three nouns and three verbs for each core value that will then be used to construct the descriptions of what each core value means to WAPC.

Remember: While this work seems slow, it is essential to the process of properly presenting to prospective pastoral candidates who WAPC is and also to developing a pastoral profile of what WAPC is looking for in a pastor.
