The Advisory Board met on June 28 for their initial training session with Equipping Leaders. This training including a review of the WAPC By-laws, discussion of privacy and confidentiality, the election of a vice-chairperson of the Advisory Board (Rob Pannell was elected), and several financial decisions, including the structure of the Finance Team.
The Pastor Search Committee (which is also the Advisory Board) met on July 19 to begin their work. Equipping Leaders led the committee in a review of the role and responsibilities of a committee member, a discussion of threats (fears) and opportunities of this season of Leadership Transition and described the process for developing a vision frame. A vision frame articulates what the church is doing, how it is doing it, and why it is doing it in the context of its unique contribution to the Kingdom. The ability to articulate a vision frame will then inform the pastor profile that will be used to begin soliciting applications to be screened. The Pastor Search Committee also participated in the development of the Leadership Transition page by writing their profiles and having their pictures taken to allow both members and prospective applicants to know who the Pastor Search Committee is.
The Advisory Board meets for the 2nd Quarter Advisory Board Meeting on August 3.
The Pastor Search Committee will be reading Search: The Pastoral Search Committee Handbook by William Vanderbloemen of the Vanderbloemen Search Group, an executive search firm serving churches, ministries, and faith-based organizations. They are also working on elements of the vision frame. They will meet with Equipping Leaders again on Saturday, August 16.
